Match bank payments to your outstanding invoices.
Connect incoming transfers to the right invoices and check the balance still outstanding. RoadReview distinguishes clear matches, suggestions and manual assignments; provider and bank-account setup for the finAPI connection are discussed when your school joins the closed beta.
Set up the bank connection before reconciling
To compare bank transfers with outstanding invoices, you first need the appropriate account setup. RoadReview supports manually created accounts and connections through finAPI. During Closed Beta onboarding, you discuss how to connect your bank and which transactions that connection can provide. Provider and account setup must be active before you use the connected reconciliation workflow. Loaded transactions can then be reviewed and assigned. Creating an account record alone does not mean real bank transactions are already being retrieved; establishing the connection is part of preparing the workflow.
Review a transfer with an unexpected sender
For example, a parent pays towards a learner’s training but leaves out the expected invoice reference. Review the loaded transaction and its suggested link to an invoice. Clear matches are treated differently from suggestions that need your confirmation. If the suggestion is wrong, you can assign the transaction manually. An uncertain link then becomes a payment assignment your team has checked. This relies on being able to establish the connection from your invoice and contact records; a similar name alone is not enough to base the decision on.
Check the remaining balance before a reminder
An outstanding invoice and a bank transaction may relate to the same payment without being correctly linked yet. Before handling a reminder case, check the payment assignment and then the remaining invoice balance. Transactions that do not belong to an invoice can be ignored instead of assigned. The finance view lets you consider the outstanding amount alongside confirmed payments. You need available transactions and a resolved assignment for this to be useful. Reconciliation organises that review; it does not settle a disputed amount or decide how your school should follow it up.
Frequently asked questions
What should I do with a transaction that has no useful invoice reference?
Check the available invoice and contact details. You can assign a transaction manually or ignore one that does not belong to an invoice. Confirm a suggestion only after establishing the link.
Should I review reconciliation before sending a reminder?
Yes. Check assigned payments and the remaining balance of the relevant invoice. An unresolved transaction may mean you need to clarify the payment assignment first.
