GPS tracking

Also known as: Satellite positioning · GPS-Tracking

GPS tracking uses satellite positioning to record vehicle locations. In a driving-school context it powers location-aware lesson documentation — for example, RoadReview's geo-feedback view.

GPS tracking records positions obtained through satellite positioning. Accuracy depends on the receiver, surroundings and satellite reception; buildings or trees can impair positioning.

RoadReview Mobile initially stores a lesson’s GPS track locally. Completed lessons can be uploaded immediately or later. The route, markers and associated audio memos can be reopened for review. Route storage is not replaced by automatic anonymisation after each analysis.

Recording requires location permission and suitable GPS reception. Personal location data requires a defined purpose, a legal basis and an appropriate retention period. Operating-system permissions alone do not replace that legal basis.
