Telematics
Also known as: Vehicle telematics · Telematik
Telematics combines telecommunications and information technology, for example to transmit and analyse location and vehicle data. RoadReview uses such data to document driving lessons.
Telematics combines the collection, transmission and processing of data. In vehicles, examples include location transmission, vehicle data and connected traffic information.
RoadReview Mobile records GPS positions and speed data during a lesson and links them to documented situations. A compatible OBD adapter can add vehicle data such as engine speed, throttle position and an estimated gear. Available values depend on the vehicle and adapter.
The driving-school management system in closed beta has functions for live positions during active lessons, available vehicle telemetry and estimated trip costs derived from it. With the student’s permission, RoadReview Family displays synchronised lessons; it does not provide live tracking.
The driving-progress value summarises documented lessons and instructor feedback as an orientation value. It is not a probability of passing the exam.
